The game’s story focuses on the efforts of a ragtag team of characters in the Crash Bandicoot series, who must race against the egomaniacal Nitros Oxide to save their planet from destruction. In the game, players can take control of one of fifteen Crash Bandicoot series characters, though only eight are available at first. A hot competitor to the n64's Mario Kart, it delivers smooth kart handling, several well thought out weapon and traps, and a fun variety of multiplayer challenges. Though the story wasn't very deep, the gameplay is what will win you over.
As stated earlier, the karts handle well. Turning/drifting isn't the best, but much better compared to it's competitor, Mario Kart. The graphics are much more realistic, and the characters havn't seemed to have changed a bit since the first crash games. The tracks are a decent challenge, and have the same feel as the classic platform series, brought into a unique racing game. Crash Team Racing is a great racing game from a character that was one of the most popular of it's time.
